PATERSON, NJ β Police are investigating a late-night shooting that left two people injured after a gunman opened fire in a city neighborhood Monday.
A ShotSpotter alert brought officers to the area of 301 Market Street just before 10 p.m., where they found two victims with gunshot wounds β one struck in the neck and the other in the leg.
Both were rushed to St. Josephβs University Medical Center and are expected to survive.
The scene was quickly taped off as detectives moved in to gather evidence. Authorities say roughly 15 shell casings were recovered at the location.
The Passaic County Prosecutorβs Office has taken over the investigation, which remains active.
The suspect fled and has not been identified. No motive has been released.
