3 Juveniles Charged in Killing of 28-Year-Old Keansburg Father

Three juveniles are now facing charges in the killing of 28-year-old Paco M. Moore, a Keansburg father whose death last month left behind a young daughter and a growing family.

Moore was shot on July 20 near the 40 block of Carr Avenue in Keansburg. He was with his fiancée, their toddler daughter and family members when the shooting unfolded, according to previous reporting.

Keansburg police were called to the area around 8:56 p.m. after a 911 caller reported gunfire. Officers found Moore suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In the days that followed, more than 100 family members and friends gathered along the Keansburg waterfront to remember him.

Moore was a father to a young daughter, and his fiancée, Julia Emerson, was pregnant with their second child at the time of his death.

More than a month later, authorities have announced charges against three juveniles in connection with the case.

One juvenile is charged with murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a community gun.

A second juvenile is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a community gun.

Both are being held at a juvenile detention center.

A third juvenile was charged with hindering the apprehension of another person and released to a guardian while awaiting Family Court proceedings.

Authorities have not released the juveniles' names because of their ages.

The case remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Bureau and Keansburg Police Department.

For Moore's family, the impact extends far beyond the criminal case.

A GoFundMe was created for Emerson following Moore's death to help with funeral costs, living expenses and caring for the couple's children. The fundraiser has received more than $15,000 in donations.
