8 Year Old Boy Shot And Killed In Newark: Officials

Authorities are investigating a shooting in Newark’s South Ward that left a child and an adult man wounded on Friday evening.

According to preliminary reports, Newark Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation near 180 Osborne Terrace at approximately 5:33 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a man and a child, around 8 years old, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to University Hospital, where the child was pronounced dead. The adult victim’s condition has not been disclosed.
