Officer Stabbed Outside Camden Grocery Store; Suspect in Custody

A 28-year-old Camden police officer is in critical condition after being stabbed outside Duran Grocery at Broadway and Chestnut around 6 p.m. Sunday. Officials say the attack was unprovoked and occurred during a business check.

Key Details:

• The officer, a former Marine with two years on the force, was rushed to a local hospital.

• Suspect Richard Dennis, 38, was arrested minutes later and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

• Attorney General Matt Platkin condemned the attack, emphasizing support for law enforcement.

The officer’s name and full extent of injuries have not been released.
