Jersey City police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Monday at the Grand Smoke Shop, 726 Grand Street.
Officers responded around 1:50 a.m. to reports of a robbery in progress. According to authorities, a male suspect, described as Black, entered the store with a gun and demanded cash but ultimately fled with stolen cigarettes instead.
Police established a perimeter near Van Horne Street and Communipaw Avenue, believing the suspect may have escaped into the area. No injuries were reported, and the suspect remains at large. The investigation is ongoing.
