🚨 Bodycam Released: Deadly Jersey City Police Shooting
New footage just dropped from a police shooting that happened in Jersey City on September 5, 2025 and it’s intense.
The man killed was 26 year old Steven B. Sanchez.
Here’s what investigators say went down:
Around 1:22 PM, a Jersey City sergeant suddenly makes a U turn on JFK Blvd after thinking his police vehicle was just shot at.
A civilian points out a man walking nearby and says he’s the shooter.
Within seconds, more officers flip around and move in.
By 1:23 PM, officers stop near JFK and Clinton, jump out, and spot Sanchez with what looks like a gun.
They start yelling for him to drop it.
Police say he points it at them.
Shots fired.
Investigators say Sanchez gets hit but keeps firing and runs straight toward officers before it turns into a physical struggle.
He’s taken into custody. Officers try to save him on scene.
He’s rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead at 8:45 PM.
One officer was injured but is expected to be okay.
No other injuries reported.
Authorities say the weapon recovered was a compressed air pistol.
Now the case heads to a grand jury as the state investigates the shooting.
