CLOSE CALL: MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED LURING OF 11-YEAR-OLD IN WEST NEW YORK

A quick-thinking 11-year-old narrowly escaped danger in West New York as police swiftly arrested a man accused of attempting to lure her into his vehicle near 61st Street and Kennedy Boulevard.

The West New York Police Department arrested Guy R. McCann II, 29, of North Bergen, on November 19, 2024, after responding to a report of a man attempting to lure an 11-year-old girl into a vehicle near 61st Street and Kennedy Boulevard. The child was unharmed. McCann is charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Attempting to Lure or Entice a Child and is being held in Hudson County Jail. The investigation is ongoing, and police urge anyone with information to contact the department.

Police Director Alejandro De Rojas praised the department’s swift action, emphasizing their commitment to protecting children in the community.
