🚨 Deadly Apartment Fire In Ocean County

WARETOWN, NJ — A 71-year-old woman was killed after a fire tore through a Waretown apartment Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The blaze broke out around 3 p.m. on Thursday, at Lakeside Square Apartments on North Main Street. Responding crews rushed inside and found the victim in a first-floor bedroom.

Investigators say the fire started on the bedroom floor and has been ruled accidental, caused by smoking.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene as the investigation unfolded.
