DEADLY CONFRONTATION: NJ MAN CHARGED IN EX-GIRLFRIEND’S NEWARK APARTMENT MURDER
A Newark man is facing murder charges after authorities say he gunned down his girlfriend in her own apartment last weekend.
Kasem McDonald, 42, is accused of shooting 45-year-old Shaneequah Williams inside her home on the 80 block of Astor Street around 10:45 a.m. Saturday, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Newark’s Department of Public Safety.
Investigators say McDonald fled immediately after the shooting but turned himself in at the Essex County Correctional Facility later that evening.
He is now charged with first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a handgun as a convicted felon.
Authorities urge anyone with information to call the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tip line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC (1-877-847-7432).
