Ocean County officials announced that Juliette Tournier, 30, of Horsham, Pennsylvania, has been indicted on charges of Aggravated Arson and Eluding stemming from incidents in Surf City and Ship Bottom on February 19, 2025.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, firefighters responded around 8:40 p.m. to a structure fire on North Central Avenue in Surf City. One firefighter was injured during suppression efforts and treated at Southern Ocean Medical Center before being released.
Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set, with two separate points of origin and ignitable liquids used.
Earlier that same evening, Ship Bottom police attempted to stop a Honda HR-V on Route 72. The driver fled, and the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons. Authorities later determined the vehicle was using a stolen license plate taken earlier that day in Cherry Hill.
Detectives identified Tournier as the suspect in both incidents. She was charged with eluding and receiving stolen property on February 20, later charged with aggravated arson on February 25, and surrendered to police on February 26. She was briefly held at the Ocean County Jail and released under New Jersey bail reform.
