New Jersey’s newest state troopers completed 26 weeks of academy training before receiving their badges. Jessica Reyes’s report follows the graduates and explains the physical, academic and practical preparation involved.
The 99-member class graduated at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft on August 28, 2026. Training covered situations such as motor vehicle stops and domestic violence responses, alongside the physical demands of a residential academy.
The report also describes the written tests, physical testing and background checks applicants face before entering the academy. Graduates then begin work at stations across the state with guidance from experienced trooper coaches.
