MAN ARRESTED MONTHS AFTER SHOOTING THAT LEFT DRIVER DEAD IN JERSEY CITY CRASH

A Jersey City man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of an Elizabeth man earlier this year, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday.

Gerard Rosario, 28, was taken into custody on 38th Street in Union City by members of the HCPO, the Hudson County Gang Task Force, and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

Rosario is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon in a vehicle, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and being a certain person not to possess a firearm. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility and is awaiting his first court appearance.

The charges stem from a May 3 incident in Jersey City. Around 4 p.m., officers responded to a vehicle crash near Old Bergen Road and Merritt Street. Inside the crashed car, police found 39-year-old Devon Reid of Elizabeth unresponsive in the driver’s seat. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and later died at Jersey City Medical Center at approximately 7:16 p.m.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 800-962-0056.
