NEWARK MAN, GARFIELD WOMAN CHARGED WITH HAVING SEX IN PUBLIC ON FERRY STREET

Newark police have arrested Christopher Turner, 39, and Melissa Barrett, 44, in connection with multiple public lewdness incidents between February and August 2024. The first incident was reported on February 24, when two juveniles witnessed the pair engaging in sexual activity in public on Ferry Street. Similar incidents were reported on July 25 and August 5, all involving the same suspects in the same area.

Both suspects now face charges, including six counts of public lewdness and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking additional information.
