Amy Dovidio, a 46-year-old from Pompton Plains, was arrested in Bergen County on charges including aggravated explicit assault, explicit assault, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated criminal explicit contact, and criminal explicit contact.
The arrest followed an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Garfield Police Department, prompted by a report of a teacher engaging in explicit conduct with a student at Garfield Middle School.
The investigation revealed that Dovidio, a former teacher at the school, had engaged in explicit conduct with a student aged between 13 and 17 at various locations, including the school, a private residence, and in a vehicle across Bergen, Essex, and Passaic Counties.
Dovidio was arrested in Paramus and remanded to Bergen County Jail pending her court appearance in Hackensack.
