🚨 Nj Cop Busted After $100 Target Theft Led To $75k Pba Scandal
OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — What started as a $100 shoplifting incident at Target turned into something way bigger 👀
Authorities say 53-year-old officer Abraham “Jason” Gassman has now pleaded guilty to stealing over $75,000 from his local PBA chapter.
It all began in early 2025, when Gassman was caught allegedly stealing bedding from a Target in Ocean Township, and leaving the scene in his police vehicle.
That incident triggered a deeper investigation…and that’s when prosecutors say everything unraveled.
According to officials, Gassman, who served as treasurer for his department’s PBA, had exclusive control over finances and allegedly used that power to:
• Make personal purchases using the PBA credit card
• Take cash from charity events and fundraisers
• Submit false documents claiming he repaid the money
• Lock out leadership by changing account passwords
Investigators say the stolen money went toward things like TVs, patio furniture, a home gym, travel expenses, and more.
He turned himself in back in July 2025.
Now, prosecutors are pushing for up to 7 years in prison (possibly reduced to 5 if full restitution is paid).
Gassman will also:
• Be permanently banned from holding public office
• Lose his right to own a firearm
• Be banned from entering Target stores
