A Freehold Township High School teacher is accused of sexually assaulting an underage female student more than 30 times over several months, including inside the school, according to court records.
Jesse L. Heubel, 37, of Englishtown, allegedly began an inappropriate relationship with the student after Thanksgiving 2025. An affidavit of probable cause alleges the encounters continued from February through July 2026 at the high school and several locations throughout Monmouth County.
According to prosecutors, the alleged relationship began with a kiss after school in a classroom before escalating to repeated sexual assaults. Court documents allege one encounter occurred inside the school's drama classroom, while others allegedly took place in vehicles and parking lots in Red Bank, Englishtown, and Manalapan.
Investigators allege Heubel sexually assaulted the student more than 30 times between February and July 2026. Court records further allege one encounter occurred despite the student repeatedly resisting.
The investigation began after a woman allegedly discovered sexually explicit messages on Heubel's phone, confronted him, and recorded the conversation before turning the evidence over to police, according to the affidavit. The student later gave a statement to investigators.
Heubel surrendered to authorities and is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a court appearance scheduled for July 16.
He is charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges are allegations, and Heubel is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
His attorney, Jonathan F. Marshall, told the New York Post that the defense is investigating the allegations and said "the actual facts in cases such as these tend to be much more complex than they initially appear," while emphasizing that his client is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
