
PATERSON MAN ARRESTED FOR KIDNAPPING AND CARJACKING AFTER SETTING OFF SEVERAL AMBER ALERTS
Junior Nunez, 33, from Paterson, was arrested in connection with a kidnapping and carjacking incident that prompted multiple Amber Alerts.
Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi confirmed the arrest after an investigation by the Paterson Police Department.
The incident took place on June 27, 2024, at approximately 10:39 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a carjacking and kidnapping near Piercy Street and Holsman Street.
A 34-year-old woman and her 2-year-old child were carjacked and kidnapped at gunpoint.
Police quickly identified Nunez as the suspect, resulting in a warrant for his arrest. Authorities have not disclosed whether Nunez is related to the child.
At around 6:53 a.m., Paterson Police arrested Nunez without incident. Fortunately, the victims were found in good health.
Nunez faces multiple charges, including First Degree Kidnapping, First Degree Carjacking, and several weapons charges.
In New Jersey, the sentencing for First Degree Kidnapping ranges from 15 to 30 years in state prison, with 85% of the term to be served before parole eligibility under the No Early Release Act.
