PATERSON TEEN CHARGED IN DEADLY AMBUSH NEAR MARKET STREET—SHOCKING DETAILS UNCOVERED
Authorities in Passaic County have announced charges against an 18-year-old Paterson resident in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on March 15. Following an investigation by the Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Davon White has been charged in the homicide near Market Street and Pennington Street.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, White faces multiple charges, including Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
Investigators say the shooting took place around 5:20 p.m. when a Hyundai Elantra pulled up near the intersection. Three individuals exited the vehicle and opened fire, striking Abel Angeles-Vargas, 28, of Paterson, multiple times. Angeles-Vargas was rushed to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Through their investigation, authorities identified Davon White as one of the shooters. He was charged and processed on March 24, 2025, without incident. He remains in custody, awaiting his first court appearance at Central Judicial Processing.
Prosecutors have confirmed they will file a motion for pre-trial detention, with a hearing date to be set by the court.
Officials emphasize that criminal complaints are accusations, and White is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, with authorities promising further updates as they become available.
