Remembering Violeta: Perth Amboy Woman Tragically Lost In Dominican Republic Roof Collapse

It is with deep sorrow that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Antonia Ignacio, lovingly known as Violeta, a beloved member of the Perth Amboy community. While on vacation in the Dominican Republic, she tragically lost her life when the rooftop of the Jet Set club in Santo Domingo collapsed during a concert.

Her son remembers her as a joyful, loving, and radiant woman—a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who lit up every room she entered.

Her family is now working to bring her back home to New Jersey to lay her to rest surrounded by those who loved her most. A GoFundMe has been launched to help cover the costs of transporting her remains and honoring her life with a proper funeral.
