RETIRED POLICE OFFICER KILLED IN SOUTH RIVER HOME EXPLOSION

Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone announced an ongoing investigation into a fatal explosion in South River. The incident, which took place on Continental Court around 7:03 P.M. on Thursday. One victim, retired Newark Police officer Kevin Gilbert, aged 62, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other victim’s identity has not been disclosed.

The investigation into the cause of the explosion is underway, with authorities urging the public to provide any relevant information.
