SEASIDE PARK WOMAN CHARGED WITH FLEEING SCENE OF ACCIDENT THAT SEVERELY INJURED ELDERLY MAN
Authorities in Ocean County announced that Genell Mcinaw, 50, of Seaside Park, was charged on September 24 with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident that resulted in Serious Bodily Injury to another person. This charge is linked to an incident that occurred in Seaside Heights on September 23. Ocean County First Assistant Prosecutor Michael T. Nolan, Jr. reported that at around 9:30 p.m. on September 23, officers from the Seaside Heights Police Department responded to a report of a male lying in the roadway at the intersection of Dupont Avenue and the Boulevard.
Upon arrival, officers found a 75-year-old male victim unconscious in the roadway with significant injuries. The victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he is currently listed in critical condition.
Investigators from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, the Seaside Heights Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit found that a dark-colored sedan traveling south on the Boulevard struck the victim and then fled the scene. Further inquiries revealed that Mcinaw was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad later apprehended Mcinaw at her home without incident. She was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where a blood sample was collected under a court-authorized warrant. Mcinaw is currently held at the Ocean County Jail, awaiting a detention hearing.
