A 21-year-old Secaucus man has been charged after police say he was driving nearly 75 mph in a 25 mph zone before causing a serious crash.
According to Secaucus Police, Jobeth Manga was behind the wheel of a 2023 Tesla Model 3 on County Avenue on Jan. 13 when he slammed into a 2024 Hyundai Kona that was turning into the UPS employee parking lot.
The Hyundai driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to Jersey City Medical Center.
Investigators from the Secaucus Police Traffic Bureau and the Hudson County Regional Crash Investigation Team determined the Tesla was traveling nearly triple the speed limit before the crash.
Manga and his passenger suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
He now faces charges including:
• Assault by Auto (4th degree)
• Reckless Driving
• Speeding
Police say excessive speed and reckless driving caused the crash.
