A Garwood teenager charged in the deaths of two juvenile girls following a fatal crash in Cranford will now be prosecuted as an adult, Union County officials announced Friday.
Vincent Battiloro, 18, whose identity had previously been withheld because he was a juvenile at the time of the crash, has been waived to adult court and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
The charges stem from a crash on Sept. 29, 2025, along Burnside Avenue in Cranford.
According to investigators, Cranford police responded to the area at approximately 5:26 p.m. after receiving reports that a motor vehicle had struck two juvenile girls riding an electric bicycle.
Both victims were transported to nearby hospitals, where they later died from their injuries.
Union County officials said the decision to prosecute Battiloro as an adult follows what they described as a comprehensive investigation conducted by the Union County Prosecutor's Office and the Cranford Police Department.
The case will now proceed in the Criminal Part of the Superior Court in Union County, where Battiloro will face trial as an adult.
Authorities have not released additional details about the investigation or the circumstances surrounding the crash.
