TRAGEDY STRIKES IN JERSEY CITY: 34-YEAR-OLD FATALLY SHOT; INVESTIGATION UNDERWA

A 34-year-old man was shot and killed late Sunday night in Jersey City, sparking an active investigation by authorities.  

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the shooting took place on Fairview Avenue between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and West Side Avenue.  

Jersey City Police responded to the scene shortly after 11:20 p.m. on December 8, 2024, where they discovered the victim, identified as Dushawn Bell of Elizabeth, suffering from gunshot wounds.  

Bell was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Monday, December 9.  

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the official cause and manner of death.  

Meanwhile, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and Jersey City Police Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.  

No suspects have been apprehended, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345.
