🚨 Two Newark Teens Charged in Maplewood Home Burglary, Car Theft Spree

🚨 MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Two Newark teenagers are facing charges after authorities say they were connected to a string of residential burglaries and attempted vehicle thefts that targeted occupied homes across Maplewood between December 2025 and January 2026.

According to the Maplewood Police Department, 18-year-old Znajay Nelson and 18-year-old Zameer Suggs were identified through an investigation led by the department’s Detective Bureau following multiple incidents throughout the township.

Police say the crimes took place on Courter Avenue, Collinwood Road, New England Road, Edgewood Place, and Oakland Road, with investigators alleging the suspects targeted homes during the early morning hours.

Authorities said several incidents involved stolen vehicles, burglary tools, and alleged ties to an auto theft trafficking network.

Nelson is facing charges including burglary, attempted burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit motor vehicle theft, theft, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and participating in an auto theft trafficking network.

Suggs was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit motor vehicle theft, receiving stolen property, and participating in an auto theft trafficking network.

Police said all individuals connected to the investigations have now been identified and charged.

The department is also reminding residents to lock vehicles, secure homes, and avoid leaving keys or valuables inside cars as authorities continue cracking down on burglary and auto theft crimes across the area.
