🚨 Two women were killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing a Newark street Saturday night, authorities said.
According to investigators, the victims were walking in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Park Avenue and North 7th Street around 11 p.m. on June 20 when they were struck by a northbound vehicle.
The driver fled the scene and has not yet been identified.
Authorities identified the victims as Mariana Elizabeth Valverde Beltran, 58, of Elizabeth, and Maria Isabel DeLosAngeles Salgado Ayala, 61, of Newark. Both were transported to University Hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
The investigation remains active, and no arrests have been announced.
