Video circulating online shows the alleged confrontation that led to criminal charges against a Canadian woman following an incident on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk.
According to Point Pleasant Beach police, the July 3 incident began after the woman confronted a teenage girl over the political messaging on her clothing. Investigators allege the woman struck the teen before leaving the area.
Police later identified the woman and charged her with simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child, harassment, and obstruction. The charges are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Federal authorities have also confirmed that the woman is in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody.
