WOMAN FATALLY SHOT NEAR PATERSON TRAIN TRACKS; POLICE INVESTIGATING

A woman was found fatally shot early Wednesday morning near freight train tracks in Paterson, authorities said.

Police responded to reports of gunfire near 18th Avenue and East 27th Street around 3:15 a.m., where they discovered the unidentified woman with a gunshot wound.

According to law enforcement sources cited by the Paterson Press, the victim had been shot in the head. First responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests had been made, and authorities have not released further details. The investigation remains ongoing.
