ATLANTIC CITY — Man Charged in Deadly Shooting of 22-Year-Old Woman
Authorities in Atlantic City have charged a 26-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting that left a young woman dead last month.
Police responded to a reported shooting around 9:30 p.m. on April 22 at a home on Hamilton Avenue, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. When officers arrived, they found 22-year-old Jaylou Marlenne Pineda Lopez suffering from a gunshot wound. She was later pronounced dead.
Following an investigation by the prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department, Franklin J. Felipe De La Paz, 26, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter and possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine.
Authorities say De La Paz was taken into custody on April 30 in Pleasantville with help from multiple agencies, including the Pleasantville Police Department, U.S. Marshals, and Homeland Security Investigations.
The investigation remains ongoing.
