π¨ 59,000+ Without Power As Blizzard Slams New Jersey
New Jersey is still digging out after a powerful winter blizzard left approximately 59,000 homes and businesses without power as of Monday morning.
The hardest-hit areas are shore and coastal communities, where heavy snowfall and relentless winds created some of the most dangerous conditions overnight.
Double-digit snowfall totals combined with sustained winds over 35 mph, and gusts nearing 45 mph, brought down trees and power lines across multiple counties. Blowing and drifting snow is slowing restoration efforts, making certain neighborhoods difficult for crews to access.
Major providers including PSE&G, JCP&L, and Atlantic City Electric are reporting some of the highest outage totals along the coast.
Utility crews are working extended shifts in hazardous conditions to restore service, but officials warn full restoration will take time. Blocked roadways, continued wind gusts, and widespread debris are complicating recovery efforts.
If you are without power:
β’ Operate generators outdoors and away from your home
β’ Avoid any downed wires
β’ Check on elderly neighbors and vulnerable residents who may be without heat
This is shaping up to be a long and challenging dig-out for the Garden State.
We are tracking outage numbers and restoration updates across all 21 counties.
