A flight attendant is getting praise after stepping in to help an exhausted new mother aboard a flight out of Newark.

Republic Airways flight attendant Monique Harris noticed the mother falling asleep with her baby in her lap aboard United Flight 3486 from Newark Liberty International Airport to Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Sept. 2. As the baby began slipping, Harris intervened and picked up the child before the baby could fall.

When the mother woke up, Harris reassured her and offered to hold the baby so she could get some rest.

Passenger John Frehse captured the moment and shared it online, where Harris’ act of kindness quickly went viral.

Republic Airways later praised Harris, saying it was proud to have her on its team. Harris said she wasn’t looking for recognition and was simply being herself.

Sometimes a little kindness goes a long way. ❤️
