🏀 CAMDEN’S RASHEER FLEMING DRAFTED 31ST IN 2025 NBA DRAFT, TRADED TO PHOENIX SUNS
South Jersey’s own Rasheer Fleming is officially headed to the NBA.
The 6-foot-9 forward out of Saint Joseph’s University was selected 31st overall in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves — but his pro journey took a quick turn. Minutes after the pick, Minnesota traded his rights to the Phoenix Suns, who had been eyeing him as a high-upside frontcourt prospect, according to multiple sources including Reuters and AP News.
Born and raised in Camden, New Jersey, Fleming developed a reputation as one of college basketball’s most versatile defenders. His rare 7-foot-4 wingspan, combined with a blossoming offensive game, helped him average 14.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game last season while shooting nearly 40% from beyond the arc.
“Rasheer has all the tools — length, athleticism, shot-blocking, and he can stretch the floor,” an NBA scout told CBS Sports. “He’s a modern big who can contribute early.”
Phoenix traded up to acquire Fleming, sending the No. 36 pick and two future second-rounders to Minnesota — signaling just how serious the Suns are about his potential.
Fleming played three seasons at Saint Joseph’s, helping revitalize the program and earning attention as a late riser in mock drafts. Analysts widely praised him as one of the “best sleeper picks” of the 2025 class.
He now joins a Suns roster that’s undergoing a transition, with a need for young, defensive-minded forwards. Under head coach Nick Nurse, Fleming could carve out a role early — especially if he continues to develop as a floor-spacer and rim protector.
Back in Camden, Fleming’s rise is being celebrated as another milestone for a basketball-rich community that has produced stars like Dajuan Wagner, Myles Thompson, and Lance Ware.
The next stop: NBA Summer League, where fans will get their first look at Rasheer in a Suns uniform.
