Two drivers were killed late Sunday in a crash on Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen after one of the vehicles was being followed by police, officials said.
The Attorney General’s Office reported that around 11:18 p.m., a marked police car was following a driver near 50th and 51st streets when the vehicle collided with another car. Both drivers were critically injured and later pronounced dead.
As required by a 2019 state law, the Attorney General’s Office is investigating the fatal incident. No further details have been released.
