FROM PUSHING TECH BOUNDARIES TO PUSHING THE SPEEDOMETER MARQUES BROWNLEE’S LATEST VIDEO HAS FANS QUESTIONING HIS JUDGMENT
Marques Brownlee, a top tech YouTuber, is facing backlash over his video, “How My Video Gear is Changing!” Fans criticized it as a blatant sponsored ad for DJI, with one comment noting, “This isn’t a sponsored video; it’s a ten-minute ad.”
Adding fuel to the fire was a clip of Brownlee driving a sports car at 95 mph in a 35 mph suburban zone, speeding past a sign warning drivers to slow for children. After widespread criticism, he removed the clip, apologized on X, and called his actions “inexcusable and dangerous.”
This follows September’s controversy over his pricey wallpaper app, which he later amended after fan complaints. As Brownlee expands into ventures like shoe collaborations and board roles, he’s facing growing scrutiny from his loyal audience.
