ILLEGAL AMMO SALES EXPOSED: NJ CRACKS DOWN ON GUN SHOPS IGNORING BUYER BACKGROUND CHECKS
In a bold move to curb illegal firearm-related sales, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin has launched lawsuits against two gun retailers accused of bypassing essential buyer background checks. These lawsuits target Butch’s Gun World and Point Blank Guns and Ammo, where undercover investigations revealed the sale of large quantities of ammunition, including a 1,000-round case of AR-15 rounds, to investigators without verifying legal eligibility. This action underscores the state’s commitment to enforcing strict compliance with firearm laws to prevent sales to prohibited individuals, such as those with felony convictions. Attorney General Platkin highlighted that these measures are crucial for public safety, likening firearm sale compliance to other health and safety regulations.
