Jersey Emt Dies After Finishing His 12-Hour Shift
What happened
A South Jersey community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of a beloved local hero. “Today, we are saddened by the passing of one of our own, EMT David M. Austin,” announced the Egg Harbor Township Emergency Medical Services on Wednesday.
Officials reported that Austin passed away after completing his 12-hour shift on Tuesday night, though no further details were provided. The 52-year-old dedicated 30 years to his career as an EMT, serving the Atlantic and Cape May areas before joining Egg Harbor Township full-time.
“If you had the privilege of working with Dave, you were fortunate,” the department shared. “He had a deep passion for helping others, truly cared for his patients, and always provided the best care.”
Austin was remembered as a quiet, intelligent man, a devoted EMT, and a loyal friend. “He leaves behind a lasting legacy and will be deeply missed. With a big heart and a gentle smile… he leaves us with cherished memories and big shoes to fill. We look forward to seeing him again one day.”
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
