Man Decapitated Seagull at Jersey Shore Boardwalk Because Animal Wanted Daughter’s Fries, Cops Say
What happened
A New Jersey man, Franklin Zeigler, 29, has been charged with third-degree animal cruelty for allegedly decapitating a seagull that was bothering his daughter for french fries on the Jersey Shore boardwalk over 4th of July weekend.
Zeigler admitted on police body camera to killing the seagull after trying to take the child’s french fries, the affidavit states. Police gathered photos of the decapitated animal.
According to police, Zeigler admitted to killing the bird and became confrontational during questioning, leading to additional charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. His first court appearance is scheduled for August 9, and no defense attorney is listed in court records.
