A deadly shooting is under active investigation after a man was killed early Monday morning in Union City, authorities confirmed.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, police responded just after 1:50 a.m. to reports of an altercation and gunfire near Bergenline Avenue and 44th Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim has been identified as David Pulgarin, 42, of North Bergen. He was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2:30 a.m.

Officials say the cause and manner of death are still pending results from the Regional Medical Examiner.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is leading the investigation alongside Union City Police. No arrests have been made at this time.
