Missing Parsippany Guidance Counselor Found Dead After Multi-Agency Search

A missing Parsippany man and longtime educator has been found dead after an extensive multi-agency search in Madison, authorities confirmed.

Cavan Londergan, 49, was last known to be in Madison on Monday before he was reported missing. His disappearance prompted a coordinated search involving the Madison Police Department, New Jersey State Police, the Morris County Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit, and the Morris County Office of Emergency Management.

Investigators later developed a lead that brought search crews to Summerhill Park in Madison, where Londergan was found deceased Tuesday evening.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office said the investigation remains active, but authorities do not believe his death is suspicious.

Londergan served as a guidance counselor at Lake Parsippany Elementary School and was well known throughout the Parsippany community. A graduate of Parsippany High School, he spent more than two decades teaching and coaching local students, according to school and community records.

Following news of his death, tributes from colleagues, former students, and community members began appearing online, remembering him for his dedication to education and the impact he had on generations of children and families.

Authorities have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding his death.
