One of New Jersey’s Oldest Italian Festivals Returns to Jersey City This Week 🇮🇹
What happened
One of New Jersey’s longest-running Italian traditions returns this week as the La Festa Italiana Holy Rosary Festival takes over Sixth Street in Jersey City from Wednesday, Aug. 5, through Sunday, Aug. 9.
Hosted by Holy Rosary Church at 344 Sixth Street, the beloved festival has been a Jersey City tradition since 1902, making it one of the oldest Italian feasts in Hudson County.
Visitors can expect five days filled with authentic Italian food, fresh zeppole, sausage and peppers, live music every night, carnival games, and a celebration of Italian-American culture in the heart of downtown Jersey City.
Festival hours are:
- Wednesday–Friday: 5 p.m. – 11 p.m.
- Saturday & Sunday: 2 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Live entertainment begins nightly at 7 p.m., featuring classic rock, pop, oldies, and traditional Italian-American favorites. Festivalgoers can also participate in the popular 50/50 raffle, which has awarded prizes exceeding $10,000 in past years.
The celebration honors Our Lady of the Assumption and Saint Rocco, culminating on Sunday with the festival's signature religious procession, where statues of the patron saints are carried through the streets of Jersey City alongside a marching band.
Whether you're stopping by for the food, music, or tradition, La Festa Italiana remains one of New Jersey's most iconic summer festivals.
