TRAGEDY IN WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP: 10-YEAR-OLD BOY DIES FROM GUNSHOT WOUND

A heartbreaking incident has shaken the Washington Township community after a 10-year-old boy died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to a statement from local police.

Officers responded to a home on the 400 block of Westminster Boulevard around 2:34 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, following a report of a juvenile suffering from a gunshot injury. First responders found the boy critically wounded and, despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child was a student at Birches Elementary School, and his death has left classmates, staff, and neighbors devastated. School officials have arranged counseling and support services for students, faculty, and families affected by the tragedy.

The Washington Township Police Department and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. No additional details have been released, in respect for the family’s privacy.

Chief Patrick M. Gurcsik extended his department’s deepest condolences to the boy’s family and all those impacted by the loss.
