Two Egg Harbor Township Residents Killed in Mays Landing Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle

Authorities have identified the two people killed in Saturday morning’s head-on crash in Mays Landing as 54-year-old Robert Barr Jr. and 67-year-old Alice Stilwell, both of Egg Harbor Township.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. near Route 50 and Third Street. According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, a stolen vehicle crashed head-on into the vehicle carrying Barr and Stilwell, killing both of them.
Four people who were allegedly inside the stolen vehicle are now facing charges.
Nayshaun Brown, 18, of Atlantic City, and three juveniles were charged with conspiracy offenses related to aggravated assault, joyriding, eluding and receiving a stolen motor vehicle. Brown was also charged with first-degree employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime.
The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is also investigating the deaths because the crash occurred during an encounter involving law enforcement. Officials have not released details about what happened immediately before the collision or what role police had in the encounter.
Importantly, authorities have not said police were pursuing the stolen vehicle at the time of the crash.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Hamilton Township Police Department and Attorney General’s Office are continuing to investigate.
