Newark authorities are investigating a Sunday evening shooting in the city’s West Ward that left two men wounded.
Officials say the incident occurred just before 7 p.m. when a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire near 13th Avenue and South 6th Street. Responding officers arrived to find shell casings scattered throughout the area, confirming a shooting had taken place.
While canvassing the neighborhood, police discovered two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds near South Orange Avenue, between Littleton Avenue and South 6th Street.
Both victims were transported to University Hospital, where they were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
