Authorities in Somerset County arrested Jose Cabanzo-Pena, 28, and Luis Eduardo Pena-Garzon, 32, both from Queens, NY, for a series of motor vehicle burglaries. On June 24, 2024, detectives identified their vehicle at Mountain Park in Bernards Township.
Surveillance led to their arrest and the discovery of stolen goods in their vehicle. Cabanzo-Pena was charged with multiple counts of burglary, credit card theft, and theft by deception. Pena-Garzon faced similar charges. Both were held in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
Both men were charged on complaint warrants and lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.On July 17, 2024, the Hillsborough Police Department also charged defendant Pena-Garzon with Theft by Deception, disorderly persons offense (3 counts) for thefts that occurred at the Sourland Mountain Preserve in Hillsborough on May 8, 2024, and June 10, 2024, according to officials.
Additional charges were filed against both men for thefts at Sourland Mountain Preserve.
