Bayonne is mourning Police Officer Joseph Giordano after the police department announced his unexpected death Wednesday.
In a social media statement, the department said Giordano was more than a colleague to those who worked alongside him. “Joe was more than a friend and colleague — he was family,” the department said.
The department remembered him for his kindness, laughter, loyalty and the positive impact he had on others. A memorial image shared with the announcement lists his end of watch as August 4, 2026.
Mayor Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski and the City Council called Giordano “one of Bayonne’s finest” and extended condolences to his family, friends and fellow officers. City officials said the administration would make support and resources available to people affected by the loss.
As of Wednesday evening, obituary information and funeral arrangements had not been announced, according to Hudson County View.
