Disturbing New Details Emerge In Case Of Former Nj Teacher Accused Of Sexual Abuse
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A former South Jersey middle school teacher is facing multiple first-degree charges following allegations she sexually abused a student, with new details continuing to emerge as the case moves forward.
Ashley Fisler, 36, who previously taught at Orchard Valley Middle School in Washington Township, Gloucester County, has been charged with six counts of first-degree sexual assault, along with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and official misconduct.
According to investigators, the alleged incidents date back to 2021 and involve a student who was between 13 and 16 years old at the time.
The case only recently came to light after the alleged victim — now an adult — reported the incidents to police, prompting an investigation.
According to court documents cited by the New York Post, authorities allege Fisler engaged in repeated sexual contact with the student. The documents also reference text message exchanges that investigators say support parts of the victim’s account.
Fisler has denied the allegations, according to reports.
She was arrested and remains in custody pending a detention hearing scheduled for April 1, where a judge will determine whether she will be released or held until trial.
Her attorney has stated she intends to aggressively fight the charges, arguing she has no prior criminal history, strong ties to New Jersey, and does not pose a flight risk.
The Washington Township School District confirmed that Fisler’s employment ended in April 2023. In a statement, the district said it takes matters involving student safety seriously and is cooperating with law enforcement.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the scope of the investigation. The case remains ongoing.
