GOV. MURPHY JUST GAVE YOU A WEEK OF NJ TRANSIT FOR FREE
JerseyTalks StaffGovernor Phil Murphy acknowledges the tough summer for NJ Transit, plagued by various issues including overhead wire and signal problems, heat, disabled trains, and a fare hike. To address the disruptions and thank commuters, he has announced a fare holiday from August 26 to September 2, during which all NJ Transit fares will be waived. Additionally, those with August monthly passes will receive a 25% discount on September passes.
Murphy is working with Amtrak to resolve the issues, particularly on the Northeast Corridor, and has seen progress with increased inspections and repairs.
