HUDSON COUNTY SCHOOL AIDE ARRESTED FOR BOMB THREAT OVER PARKING DISPUTE

A school aide at Bayonne High School was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening to "blow up the school" during a dispute over a parking pass, police said.

Neamat Azer, described as an assistant in the school, was taken into custody Thursday morning after making the threat, which was overheard by multiple staff members, according to Bayonne police.

Officers responded to the high school on Avenue A around 9:30 a.m. and determined that Azer had argued with another employee over a parking pass before making the statement.

The school immediately initiated a shelter-in-place until the situation was resolved. Azer was charged with causing a false public alarm.

State records show she has worked in the district since 2019.

In a letter to the school community, Superintendent John J. Niesz confirmed the arrest and praised the Bayonne police and security team for their swift response. He assured students and staff that counselors were available for support.

The Board of Education echoed this in a statement, emphasizing that student and staff safety remains the top priority. Due to the ongoing investigation, officials declined to provide further details.
