The New York Jets are parting ways with running backs coach Taylor Embree, and they are currently searching for a replacement as Breece Hall aims to achieve his goal of becoming an All-Pro running back in 2024. Embree, who coached the position for three years under head coach Robert Saleh, is being replaced as part of the staff shake-up. Panthers assistant head coach and running backs coach Duce Staley, a former 1,000-yard rusher, has met with the Jets about a coaching position. Titans' Tony Dews, who previously coached tight ends, will interview for the vacancy. Dews has ties to the Jets staff, having worked with passing game coordinator Todd Downing and offensive line coach/run game coordinator Keith Carter in the past. Breece Hall had developed into a top running back under Embree's coaching, declaring his intentions to be a Top RB, make the Pro Bowl, and be an All-Pro in 2024.
The move follows a publicized spat between Embree and former Jets running back Michael Carter during a Week 3 loss to the Patriots. Further changes on the coaching staff, especially on the offensive side, are possible as the NFL coaching landscape evolves.
