MADAGASCAR APPROVES NEW LAW TO CASTRATE CHILD R*PISTS, SHOULD NEW JERSEY DO THE SAME?
Madagascar’s Parliament has passed a law allowing for the chemical and, in some cases, surgical castration of individuals found guilty of raping minors. 🇲🇬
The law, which aims to address a surge in child rape cases, was proposed by Prime Minister Andry Rajoelina’s government and has garnered both support and criticism. Justice Minister Landy Mbolatiana Randriamanantenasoa emphasized the need for the law due to the rise in child rape incidents.
Surgical castration will be enforced for offenders who rape children under 10 years old, while cases involving children aged 10 to 13 may face surgical or chemical castration.
Chemical castration is also prescribed for offenders who rape minors aged 14 to 17. The law, which also mandates harsher prison sentences, intends to prioritize the protection of children, particularly younger victims.
Despite criticism from Amnesty International and concerns over the Malagasy criminal justice system’s transparency and medical capacity, some activists in Madagascar support the law as a deterrent against sexual violence in a country grappling with a prevalent “rape culture.”
But what about the states, do you think states like New Jersey should impose something like this? What should the punishment for these pedophiles be? Let us know below 👇🏾
